Released on May 7, 20 years ago, Sukumar's debut film Arya, which starred Allu Arjun in the lead role, was a commercial success for all those concerned.

Twenty years have passed since Sukumar made his screen debut in the 2004 film Arya on May 7. The filmmaker has since directed hit movies like Pushpa: The Rise and 100% Love. The actor who played the lead in his first movie, Allu Arjun, gave retrospectives and posted old photos. Allu posted a new poster on X (previously Twitter) that symbolized the passage of 20 years since the release of Arya. The post read, "20 years of Arya." It's more than simply a movie; it's a pivotal moment that altered the trajectory of my life. Thank you always. In addition, he posted old photos of himself with Anuradha Mehta, Siva Balaji, and a younger Sukumar, captioning them with the heart symbol and the words "Sweet Memories." The actor and director are shown in one of the photos chatting about a scenario with other members of the crew. Years later, the pair collaborated once more on Pushpa: The Rise in 2022, which was yet another huge hit.

Arya, which stars Allu, Anuradha, and Siva in the key parts, is about a hopeless lover's one-sided passion for a girl who falls in love with someone else. In 2010, a Tamil remake of the movie called Kutty was released, starring Dhanush, Sriya Saran, and Dhyan in the key parts. Arya 2, which starred Allu in a new role, was merely a spiritual continuation of the first movie. The movie also starred Navdeep and Kajal Aggarwal.

Sukumar is the director of Pushpa 2: The Rule, which stars Allu, Rashmika, and Fahadh in the respective roles of Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat. It will also feature Jagapathi Babu, Brahmaji, Anasuya Bharadwaj, and other celebrities. The movie is a follow-up to Pushpa: The Rise, released in 2021. August 15 of this year is when the film is supposed to be released.
