Saira Banu recollected that Mehmood had asked her husband, the famous actor Dilip Kumar, for permission to put her in the comedy musical.

Releasing her film Padosan in theaters recently has veteran performer Saira Banu ecstatic. She called it a professional milestone, a treasured piece of cinematic history, and a highlight of her career. The 80-year-old actor, who portrayed Bindu in the musical comedy from 1968, posted a reminiscence on Instagram on Saturday.

On Friday, Padosan, which was helmed by Jyoti Swaroop and produced by Mehmood and NC Sippy, was rereleased in theaters. Along with Kishore Kumar, Sunil Dutt, and Mehmood, it also starred.

"I was overjoyed to learn that Padosan, a movie I hold very dear, is getting a second theatrical release. Not only is this my favorite movie, but it's also a treasured part of movie history that I think the next generation should see. "Dutt Saab, Mehmood Bhai, Kishore Ji, and many more have brought to life an amazing exhibition of remarkable artists," the speaker remarked.
