In the first week of its US release, Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department has sold 2.61 million album and streaming copies, according to a Billboard report on Sunday. Is this year going to be another turning point for the pop sensation and secure the title of this year's best-selling album? One must wait and observe. The only album published in 2023 to sell two million copies in the United States is 1989 (Taylor's Version). October of last year saw the release of the singer's fourth re-recorded album, which included five vault tracks and sixteen re-recorded versions. The album went on to record the greatest single-day streams globally for an album in 2023 with 176 million reported streams. On the standard 100, all 21 of the tunes have made it onto the Billboard 100.
2022: Midnights with Taylor Swift
Taylor's tenth studio album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 for the eleventh time in a row after being an instant hit upon release. At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, Taylor also took home the titles of Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. In the United States, Anti-Hero rose to the top of the chart for 2022.
Adele for 30 in 2021
Adele released her fourth studio album, 30. It discussed the singer's post-divorce experiences and how they affected her children. In its first day of release, 30 broke several records and became the best-selling album of 2021.
2020: Folklore - Taylor Swift
When Taylor Swift revealed the artwork for her eighth album in April 2020, it instantly went viral on social media. "This summer, most of the things I had planned didn't work out, but one unexpected event did. And Folklore is my eighth studio CD," the writer remarked. It turned became the 2020 album with the longest reign at number one.
2019 saw the release of Taylor Swift's debut album, Lover, following the termination of her 12-year deal with Big Machine Records. It went on to become the best-selling album of the year with 1.085 million pure copies sold.
Upon its debut, the soundtrack CD for the movie The Greatest Showman became an enormous hit, winning both praise from critics and recognition from awards. With 1,491,000 in total album sales, it also rose to the top of the US album charts.
