Kim acknowledges that, having only started her acting career seven years prior, she was originally terrified by the thought of playing Sunja in Pachinko.

In the television series Pachinko, which is an adaptation of Min Jin Lee's critically acclaimed book of the same name, actress Minha Kim won over viewers and garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of Sunja. The South Korean actor makes a comeback as the protagonist of the series, a young girl who has grown from innocence to become her family's primary provider.

Kim acknowledges that, having only started her acting career seven years prior, she was at first scared by the thought of playing Sunja. Kim tells us that she was inspired by the women in her life for the second season of the show, in which her character had to deal with being a single working mother against the backdrop of World War 2.
