There is religious significance in almost every syllable of Mata Kushmanda's name. The words 'Ku' and 'ushma' denote 'a bit' and 'warmth', respectively, and 'anda' denotes the cosmic egg. You've probably heard the expression "a little goes a long way," and Mata Kushmanda's legacy is maybe the most divine example of this. According to legend, Mata Kushmanda spun the revival of the entire universe by briefly smiling.
