In the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series on Netflix, Miya Cech has been cast as Toph.

The Darkest Minds, a 2018 dystopian science fiction film, marked Cech's acting debut.

In March, Netflix renewed the live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender for two more seasons following a highly successful first season. Season 1 revealed most of the characters, but one important character—Toph Beifong—was absent. At its yearly Geeked Week fan event, the streaming behemoth revealed that Miya Cech has been cast in the role of the fan favorite, with the second season presently in development.

Miya Cech is set to play Toph in Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix.

Executive producers Jabbar Raisani and Christine Boylan gave Tudum an explanation of their choice for Cech's Toph casting: "We make a point of reviewing submissions separately and after countless tapes, we both had the same reaction... Miya is our Toph!"

"Miya is an exceptionally talented actor who adeptly embodies the sardonic sense of humor, stubbornness, and vulnerability that characterize Toph Beifong. They continued, "Her physicality and emotional dexterity really put her in a class of one."
