Day one box office receipts for Maidaan: The movie had a good Thursday. A movie about Syed Abdul Rahim's devotion to football is called Maidaan.

Day one box office receipts for Maidaan: In India, Amit Ravindernath Sharma's sports drama got off to a strong start. Sacnilk.com reports that the movie has already made more than ₹6 crore. The movie made ₹2.6 crore on Wednesday during its limited release. On its opening day in India, Maidaan grossed ₹3.55 crore net across all languages. The movie has made ₹6.15 crore so far.

"Ajay is without a doubt the heart and soul of the movie; he has poured his all into this subtle yet powerful role. In stark contrast to Shah Rukh Khan's portrayal of Kabir Khan in Chak De, Ajay exudes confidence on screen by keeping a cigarette between his fingers the entire time and letting his eyes speak for him. His quiet yet powerful performance lends the movie a great deal of gravitas because of his aura. I saw more of Ajay on screen than coach Rahim, which may be a blessing in disguise as he isn't forced to mimic or modify Rahim's mannerisms."

Concerning Maidaan

Maidaan, which was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, is a moving portrait of Syed Abdul Rahim's steadfast devotion to football, which gave India great pride. In the film, Ajay Devgn plays Syed Abdul Rahim. Rudranil Ghosh, Priyamani, and Gajraj Rao are also featured in the movie.

AR Rahman wrote the soundtrack. April 11 marked the movie's theatrical debut. The film's trailer, which follows Ajay's character as he builds and manages a strong football club against all odds, strikes chords with themes of tenacity and faith. 

"Neither the largest nor the richest nation is us. Since everyone plays football, it has the power to shape who we are. Thus, for the next ten years, India must concentrate on building a world-class team," says Ajay in the narration of the film.
