Elon Musk, "return my designs": The director makes fun of Robotaxi and Optimus for stealing the Will Smith movie's designs

Elon Musk unveiled the Robotaxi, Robovan, and Optimus robots during Tesla's AI Day.

At Tesla's AI Day, Elon Musk unveiled new robotic prototypes, but some are criticizing them for looking too much like Will Smith's 2004 movie I, Robot.

Following the major unveiling of Tesla's newest robots at the "We, Robot" event, Elon Musk is all over the internet. However, when many accused the tech giant of stealing designs from the movie I, Robot, the excitement quickly devolved into derision. Fans of the 2004 science fiction blockbuster immediately noted how remarkably similar Tesla's Optimus Bot, Robotaxi, and Robovan appeared.

Taking a lighthearted jab at Musk's inspiration, the film's director, Alex Proyas, couldn't help but join the discussion after the event, which took place at the Warner Bros. lot, generated so many analogies.
