Singapore A property tycoon from Singapore was charged on Friday for his participation in a case involving former Indian-origin transport minister S Iswaran, who was imprisoned in a corruption case.
Ong Beng Seng, 78, is charged with one count of aiding and abetting a public servant to accept gifts and with obstructing justice.
Iswaran admitted to stealing things including Formula 1 tickets and a vacation to Doha from Ong. He was given a one-year jail sentence on Thursday.
Court records state that ong persuaded Iswaran to collect a valuable item in December 2022 by promising him a private plane journey from Singapore to Doha, which was estimated to be worth USD 7,700. He also organized a one-night stay in a hotel in Doha with a value of SGD 4,737.63 and a business class flight from Doha to Singapore with a value of SGD 5,700 for Iswaran, the Channel News Asia stated.
