According to her attorney, Ektaa Kapoor is preparing a ₹100 crore defamation suit against "false and misleading information."
This follows a court order on Saturday for police to investigate a criminal complaint against Ektaa Kapoor.
The family, ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd., and television and movie producer Ektaa Kapoor are getting ready to take strong legal action against individuals disseminating "false and misleading information" about them. In a statement posted on X (previously Twitter), advocate Rizwan Siddique claimed to speak for Ektaa and other parties.

Ektaa Kapoor will sue for defamation.
According to the advocate's statement on X, Ektaa intends to sue people making unfounded allegations for ₹100 crore in civil defamation. Some of the people spreading rumors about Ektaa are motivated by "personal vested interests coupled with hidden agendas and criminal motives," according to Rizwan's legal notification. A police report from 2020 that "was already closed by said Police Department" is related to this. In spite of this, he said, some are attempting to take advantage of the situation in order to harm Ektaa and her reputation.
What the court concluded
In order to "first ascertain the veracity of the complaint brought before," the statement requested a police report, claiming that the Bandra Magistrate court "did not take cognizance of the said complaint."
This follows allegations made in 2020 by Hindustani Bhau, also known as Vikas Pathak, that Ektaa's over-the-top platform ALT Balaji had insulted Indian soldiers. Her parents, Sobha and Jeethendra Kapoor, were also named in his complaint. According to PTI, the court ordered the police to investigate a criminal case made against her in light of his accusation. In accordance with section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the court requested a police report on the complaint by May 9.
Ektaa has already been under legal scrutiny over material on her streaming service. After Jabalpur BJP MLA Abhilash Pandey accused her of displaying "bold content involving children" on the web series Gandii Baat, a formal complaint was filed against her in 2024.
