Warner Bros. revealed that additional LOTR movies are being developed and that the movie is scheduled for release in 2026.

Fans of The Lord of the Rings have some excellent news. Warner Bros. is reportedly producing a new batch of Lord of the Rings films, the first of which is scheduled to premiere in theaters in 2026 and is provisionally named Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, according to Hollywood Reporter. The movies are reportedly "now in the early stages of script development," according to the media portal. In addition to starring and directing the film alongside Peter Jackson, Andy Serkis' writing collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are anticipated to be "involved" at every stage of the process. Peter will produce the project, and Fran and Philippa will create the screenplay. Currently, there are plans to produce two movies in the franchise.

In a statement, Andy allegedly said, "Yessss, Precious." Now is the moment to set out into the unknown again with my best friends, Peter, Fran, and Philippa—the incredible and unique guardians of Middle-earth. It's just too good, especially with Mike and Pam, the Warner Bros. crew, WETA, and our New Zealand-based filmmaking family joining us on the adventure.

About the Hobbit series
The Lord of the Rings is a cinematic franchise based on the book trilogy by JRR Tolkien. In New Zealand, where Peter is from, three movies were filmed at the same time. Filmed between 1999 and 2000, The Fellowship of the Ring was released in 2001, The Two Towers in 2002, and The Return of the King in 2003.
The trilogy, which took home multiple Oscars, was a box office hit, grossing a total of $2.988 billion. According to the portal, Amazon is also expanding the franchise's universe. It is anticipated that the trilogy will soon be rereleased in theaters in expanded and remastered versions.
